Statoz research found that, as of the beginning of this year, more than half of the number of clicks harvested by Lingala music tracks is coming from Africa proper. Before France, Belgium and the United states were the main suppliers of youtubeviews. this is probably due to the sharp increase of broadband internet connections in DR Congo. 

Thanks to the Internet, virtually anyone can have an audience for their music.

Making music can still pay off big-time, but the ways to make money out of each track have been drastically changed.

In the music industry's basic form, an artist simply records his/her own music, copies it and sells it to others.

Lets take a short look at the ways to do this:

 

Record companies pay advances to the artists for recording costs and other expenses, but they expect a return on that investment.

The average high-end royalty deal with a record company will pay musicians $1 for every $10 retail album. 10 %.

A low-end royalty deal only pays 30 cents per album sale.

 

A $9.99 download on a program like iTunes nets artists a modest 94 cents -- less than a 10% cut. The record company takes $5.35 and Apple keeps the remaining $3.70.

 

A youtube ''click'' might generate up to 1800 dollars for each million views.

 

Online streaming services like Last.fm, Rhapsody and Spotify pay each time users click play, but the numbers are a pittance. On top of that, the pay out is meagre: Spotify leaves the artist with 213 dollars for one million streams.

 

If the artist sells the physical CD themselves for  let's say $9.99, they could keep 100% of the profits, which is obviously the most profit-per-album a musician can hope for. But they might miss out on the (still) huge marketing capacity of big record companies.

Statoz Research found that the percentage of english-language music videos on youtube declined from 42 % in 2006 to 17.2 % in 2012 (december). SR is expecting a further , but slower, decline in the near future.

Lebanese superstar Nancy Ajram (May 16, 1983, Beirut)  amassed a total of 192 million views so far. A record in the music industry of the Arabian world. In the mean time Nancy got two children with Fadi El Hachem : Mila and Ella.

The Turkish music industry is broadening quickly. The frontrunner, Emre Aydın (song: Soğuk Odalar) is a Turkish singer-songwriter and born in Isparta on 2 February 1981. Emre amassed sofar more than 50 million youtube views for his five top 300 hits. But the race is close in Turkey, and the contenders are moving up. Top 10 is within 6 million views:

The minimum requirements to enter the official most viewed ever world charts are on the up. From january  2013,  almost 60 million views will be required to enter the 500 most viewed music songs in the world. Just a year ago, 41.3 million views would have been sufficient. Statoz.com expects this number to rise to 82 million views in a year from now.

Universal and Sony  have been stripped of two billion YouTube hits after the website cracked down on alleged 'fake viewers'. Universal, home of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber, lost a total of one billion views in the video site’s biggest ever crackdown on artificially inflated figures.

Sony was second hardest hit, with the label behind such stars as Alicia Keys, Rita Ora and Labrinth losing more than 850million views in a single day.

Statoz.com states that the supposedly achieved views are still in out databases and we are still counting them, as we always do with ''dead uploads''. Once the view fraud and the official volume will officially be confirmed by youtube, we will start slashing the ghost views.

Rapper Psy is rapidly closing the views-gap with Justin Bieber. Statoz is predicting now that Psy and his Gagnam Style will be the most viewed record on youtube as of the beginning of december. In 2013 we will have a new number one. And for the first time in history it won't be a English language one.

Justin Bieber is nearing the 800 million views with his track: Baby.Still the absolute youtube champion. The total amount of Bieber music has got 2.1 billion views soo far.

Lorine Zineb Noka Talhaoui (born 16 October 1983 in Stockholm) wins the ESC 2012. We are waiting for the views on her track Euphoria.

Plumbo with Møkkamann is quickly closing the gap with Erik and Kriss ft. Byz (Ølbriller) for the Norwegian number one position.

South African rap sensation Jack Parow is ruling the Afrikaans music industry big time. With 2,3 million views for his Cooler as Ekke which is three times as much as the Afrikaans number two. Guess what...a Parow track as well.
